Nepal Travel
Nepal is just majestic. Yes, majestic is the only word
befitting the status of Nepal. Nepal is located in the very lap of the
Himalayas. Surrounded on three sides by the Great Himalayas, Nepal and
mountains seem inseparable. As you travel to Nepal, you will find the
snow-flecked mountains; conical huts, smiling nomads and serpentine
roads that signify Nepal. Since decades, mountaineers have seen Nepal
and Trekking as sides of the same coin. Trekking, Hiking, Bungee
jumping, Scuba diving, Para gliding; you think of it and Nepal has it
for you. But Nepal is not just about mountains; tourism in Nepal goes
much beyond.
Nepal has become the second name of Hinyana Buddhism. Lord Buddha was
born at Lumbini in Nepal. The entire belt has been developed as Buddhist
heritage site, which attract travelers from all parts of the world. It
is interesting to note that scores of people travel to Nepal in search
of salvation and peace. Many of them just don't want to leave the place
at all. The solitude that Nepal provides is unparallel. Surely no one,
who has traveled Nepal even once, forgets this place and experience.
Till the year 2006 Nepal was the only Hindu state in the world.
Although the state has developed itself into a Secular State, it is
proud of its Hindu past as well. The majestic Pashupatinath Temple is
the best example of this fact. The massive temple stands in Kathmandu
and receives millions of visitors every year. The temple city of
Janakpur is the birthplace of mythological Sita, the wife of Lord Rama
of the great epic Ramayana. There are other temples too, each famous for
their respective architectures and history.
Nepal has always kept pace with the world. It is said that nearly every
movement that has influenced the west has influenced Nepal too. Of
course, tourists bring these waves with them. In fifties Nepal
propagated Rock-n-roll. The sixties were known for Punk. But it was
seventies that put Nepal on the world map. Nepal became the abode of
Hippie movement in the seventies; the decade it rocked the world. Scores
of movies based on the theme were shot in Nepal. Katmandu and Dharan
find mentions in every second hippie anthems. It was then that the
casino and the gambling industry witnessed boom. And Nepal has not
stopped yet. It continues to experiment; it continues to reinvent itself
and it continues to attract travelers from all over the world.
