Tourist Police in Nepal A
special unit of the Nepal Police, the Tourist Police, is trained
specially to assist visitors with security and travel related problems.
An English-speaking officer on duty is just a call away between 8 am and
8 pm. These officers are also stationed at all the major tourist sites.
They can be easily identified by their Blue van and Blue bicycle that
they use for constant patrol.Tourism Police was established in 1979 under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. The main function of Tourist Police is to look after the welfare of tourist and to assure them a pleasant and a memorable stay in Nepal. Among others, its function includes advising and assisting tourist in safety and security during traveling, trekking, rafting in any part of Nepal. It has a dedicated workforce of 42 policemen.
