Srinagar’s well-known Makhdoom Sahib Shrine will be getting a new mono- cable ropeway in the near future following an approval from the J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
The ropeway to be built at a whooping cost of Rs. 6 crore is expected to be completed in 18 months. The ropeway will be 541 metres long with 4 cabins in each cluster having a seating capacity of 225 people. It will have a maximum speed of 4 metres per second. With the help of the ropeway, pilgrims will be able to reach the upper hill station from base in approximately around 3.2 minutes.
