Asia’s largest rail network, Indian railways (IR) made a total approximate earnings of Rs 2418.80 crore during the period from June 1-10 thus registering an increase of 6.35 per cent.
The Indian railways that also operate several luxury trains such as Palace on Wheels, Golden Chariot, Royal Orient Express and Deccan Odyssey saw 229.76 million passengers booking the tickets during the period from June 1 -10 compared to 216.17 million during the same period last year. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked was 118.77 million and 110.99 million thus registering an increase of 6.11 per cent and 6.48 per cent respectively.
