As per the figures revealed by Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), Hong Kong received a total of 2,815,295 visitor arrivals in the month of May. The total number of visitor arrivals for the first 5 months of this year is 14,236,294, 19.9 per cent more than in the same period last year. The tourist arrivals are expected to rise further as the city is all geared up to offer its visitors a series of unique Chinese festivals and western cultural celebrations.
James Tien, Chairman, HKTB said, “Riding on the growth momentum in Quarter One of 2010, we will intensify our promotions during the peak summer travel season. Apart from staging the brand new ‘Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival’, we will work closely with our travel trade partners to roll out promotions targeting the Mainland and other short-haul markets, so that we can sustain the growth trend into Quarter Two and drive further increase in visitor arrivals.
