Air India in a bid to update its operations in the Gulf sector will soon open an engineering base in Dubai. Arvind Jadhav, Chairman and managing director, Air India said that the carrier proposes to put 5 aircraft on standby in Dubai to resolve emergency technical snags and depending on the cost factor , the base is likely to be set up either in Dubai or Sharjah.
The national carrier will also open a 24-hour toll free call centre to spread information and there are plans to add 200 flights in this region. Air India, India’s largest and oldest airline serves 11 domestic destinations and 17 international destinations in 10 countries across Asia, Europe and North America.
