The much anticipated new Terminal 3 (T3) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi was finally unveiled on July 3rd by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. After inaugurating the terminal, Singh said that the Indian aviation sector has the potential to absorb up to $ 120 billion of investment by 2020.
Spread over 4 kms, the new terminal is expected to handle 34 million passengers anuallt and will be mainly used for the entire passenger movement in the airport. The new T3 features 78 aero-bridges, 168 check-in counters, 95 immigration desks, multi-layer parking facility that can accommodate 4,300 cars and many more.
