The tourism ministry of India has launched a new code of conduct for the tourism industry ahead of the Commonwealth Games to keep a tab on the visitor’s and local resident’s security. The Code of Conduct for Safe and Honorable Tourism though not legally compulsory was released by Union Tourism Minister Kumari Selja.
“The Code will ensure that Indian tourism follows international standards of safe practices — applicable to both tourists and local communities. The code will assist signatories to build capacities among their service chains and personnel so as to respond to demand,” said Kumara Selja.
The new set of guidelines would be applicable to all the owners, suppliers, contractors and employees of the travel and tour sector, including hotels, restaurants, guest houses, tour agents and entertainment establishments.
