According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) that recently released its tourist arrivals figures for the month of April 2010, the state witnessed 2,796,311 visitors. The total arrivals from January to April this year, accumulated to 11, 420, 999, 16.0 per cent higher than last year’s figure for the same period. For the first time ever, visitor arrivals surpassed the 10 million mark within the first 4 months of this year.
The number of business travelers arriving Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand has significantly increased and registered growth that ranged from 15 per cent to almost 30 per cent. The overnight visitors in April accounted for 1,577,591 out of all visitor arrivals to Hong Kong, which represented a 14.0 per cent-increase compared to April last year.
