Marriott International, the second largest hotelier in the US, plans to open 25,000 - 30,000 additional rooms worldwide by 2010, out of which 1,500 will be in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Ed Fuller, president and managing director of international lodgings at Marriott International said that the hotel group plans to open the 318 room Bahrain Renaissance, the 209 room Accra Marriott in the Ghana, the 370 room JW Marriott in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, the 257 room Doha Renaissance, the 204 room Doha Courtyard and the 138 room Doha Marriott Executive Apartment. This brings the total planned for the year to 1,496 rooms.
The US-based operator has 40 hotels in development in the Middle East and North Africa over the next 3 years.
