Travelport Acquires Sprice.Com
Travelport, one of the world's largest travel company has acquired Singapore-based Sprice private Ltd, that owns hotel and travel search engine called Sprice.com for an undisclosed sum. Travelport will increase its hospitality offerings by providing Galileo and Worldspan-connected agents with access to Sprice’s portfolio of over 240,000 international hotel properties, as well as hotel reviews, merchandising options and comparison tools. The company will utilize Sprice’s search technology to enhance its GDS (global distribution system) channels, to deliver and distribute better supplier content to its subscriber customers.
Sprice instituted in June 2006 offers consumers, access to unique content in Europe and Asia and provides travel operators with a low-cost, efficient distribution channel for their services.
Infrastructure Major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) To Set Up Hotels In India
Larsen & Toubro, the infrastructure major that had previously build many hotels for the likes of Tata Group (Indian Hotels Co Ltd) and Oberoi Group (EIH Ltd) for years will now set up its own set of hotels in India. The company has identified 4 markets for its hospitality business foray.
The hotel projects, comprising of budget, mid-market, business hotel, five-star and serviced apartments, are expected to be established in the cosmopolitan cities like Navi Mumbai, Chandigarh, Bangalore and Chennai. The hotels will be developed through the special purpose vehicle (SPV) route, either directly (L&T Ltd) or through a group company (such as L&T Urban Infrastructure Ltd).
