Chitrakoot falls located in the Bastar district, Chhattisgarh state will soon be equipped with light and sound show from the state tourism department. The tourism department’s plans to illuminate waterfalls with a light and sound show are currently in the final stages of clearance. A detailed project report, chalked out by India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), has already been presented to the Ministry of Tourism (MoT).
The plan also includes walkways and viewing decks apart from installation of world class light and sound technology at Rs 17.50 crore. Subrat Sahoo, Tourism Secretary, Chhattisgarh said, “We've sanctioned the project in principle. Final checks are being made on the technology. We want to make Chitrakoot Waterfalls the icon of the state.”
Chitrakoot, which is about 95 feet deep and 650 feet wide, is often referred to as India's Niagara Waterfalls. Tiratgarh Waterfalls, Danteshwari Temple, Bastar Palace, Kanger Valley National Park, Kutumsar and Kailash Caves are other nearby tourist attractions. Besides the falls, Bastar district that lies in the southern part of Chhattisgarh is also home to to innumerable number of mountains, hills, caves, parks as well as waterfalls like Ganga Munda Lake, Mandawa Waterfalls, Dalpat Sagar Lake among others
