Uttarakhand state, an home to many tourist spots and beautiful hill stations including Mussoorie, Nainital and Kausani will now be showcased in the 2011 Berlin Tourism Fair to attract more number of international tourists to the state. The state that is dotted with many religious places like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Hemkund Sahib, Gangotri, Yamunotri and others Jag witnesses both the local and foreign tourists with the former comprising 98 percent of the total inflow to Uttarakhand.
The German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) is cooperating with the Uttarkhand government to promote tourism of the state through its Regional Economic Development (RED) programme. 'Uttarakhand had participated in the ITB Berlin Tourism Fair earlier but we want to ensure that future participations yield maximum result for them,' said Subroto Roy, senior programme manager, GTZ-RED.
'In the next three to five years we expect substantial rise in foreign tourist visit to the state after participation in ITB Berlin Tourism Fair,' he added. Furthermore, GTZ-RED is also trying to enhance religious tourism of Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, ITB Berlin Tourism Fair that attracts tens of thousands of visitors, exhibitors and media representatives every year is a combination of trade exhibition, public exhibition and the biggest professional convention worldwide.
