Chennai-based Oriental Hotels Ltd (OHL) is all set to expand its footprint across Southern India within the span of next 5 to 6 years. The company whose various properties are operated under Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) plans to unveil a new Taj property in Coimbatore on the Race Course Road with 180 rooms by 2011. Also a 200-room Gateway Hotel in Bannerghatta, Bangalore will be opened in the near future.
The company will also actively involve in renovating and upgrading its existing properties in Chennai. While the Taj Coramandel would get 113 refurbished rooms, the Taj Fisherman’s Cove would get 88 renovated cottages. Extensive renovation of rooms and F&B (Food & Beverage) facilities had also been undertaken at The Gateway Hotel, Visakhapatnam. Besides, the company has recently acquired a 126-room completed property in Thiruvananthapuram, as part of the upscale hotels.
