India’s Seawood Resorts Pvt Ltd (SRPL) made its foray into the hospitality segment by opening its first property in Goa. The hotel cum serviced apartment property at Vainguinim Valley has 38 rooms and 31 serviced apartments. The company has created an indigenous brand for the property called ‘Sandalwood Hotel and Retreat’. The hotel’s proximity to Panjim is expected to woo business and leisure travellers. The hotel’s F&B (Food & Beverage) services which are expected to be operational by 2011 include a Sea Pearl Restaurant in a multi-cuisine format, a Spanish bar Salud, a pool-side bar Caitan & Joe and Upper Coast Café .
Shekhar Divadkar, General Manager, Sandalwood Hotel and Retreat said that a mix of hotel rooms and serviced apartments will help the company to position the property as a business cum leisure hotel, thus attracting both tourists, as well as corporate clientele.
The company has plans to open more properties in future and is presently scouting for locations in the metros, as well as secondary locations like Nagpur, Nashik and Mangalore.
