Shillong's much anticipated two-day Lasubun Festival kick started on the 14th and 15th of May at the Mawphlang Sacred Grove with great pomp and vigour. The main objective of the festival is to promote the region as a tourist-friendly destination. Hundreds of visitors thronged the Mawphlang sacred grove to witness the vibrant festival.
Edward Pakyntein, a visitor, said: "There are lots of traditional items that are shown from the Garo Hills, the Khasi Hills and other art and craft forms from our state. Also music and other things were really up to the mark.”
The event promoted by the Government of Meghalaya, Department of Tourism, showcased state’s art and culture. The festival provided a perfect platform for all the people of Shillong to experience both traditional and contemporary art forms.
