The Indian tourism ministry will soon develop the sites of the Oscar winning filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s famous film shots in West Bengal into tourist attractions under the Satyajit Ray’s trail project at a total cost of Rs. 50 crore. Illumination of the shooting spots, landscaping, a tourist interpretation centre and building accommodation facilities are also a part of the proposed project.
The state government is currently identifying locations where the director shot his films and some of them include Birbhum, Bolpur, Boral and Burdwan districts. The authorities claim that the trail may start from Shantiniketan, West Bengal that is already a major draw for many Indian and international tourists.
