Keshopur Chummb Community Reserve in Gurdaspur district of Punjab, a home to about 40,000 migratory birds of about 45 species and fishes of 42 species is all geared up to get a facelift form the Punjab government. The reserve that will be developed in to an eco-destination will be spruced up to attract tourists as part of the government’s grand tourism plan.
The Punjab forest department will be closely working with the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, for the development of this community reserve. The institute has chalked out plan to set up an interpretation-cum-information centre, besides encouraging home stays for tourists in surrounding villages.
