Nepal country is now home to the world's tallest Shiva statue that is built at the whooping cost of Rs 8 crore. The statue was unveiled on June 21st by Swami Shankaracharya Madhav Sharanji Maharaj of Badrinath, at Sanga village situated in the east of Kathmandu. The statue, which is made of cement, concrete and iron and coated with zinc and copper, depicts Lord Shiva carrying a trishul in his hand while a snake is resting on his shoulder.
Indian businessman Kamal Jain who has built this spectacular statue has also built a resort in the area which has a children's park, restaurant, spa and health centre, yoga and meditation centre and the site is expected to boost tourism.
The new attractive statue is expected to enhance Nepal’s’ booming tourism sector. The country that boasts of many major tourist attractions like Annapurna Sanctuary, Mount Everest trekking route , Royal Chitwan National Park , Pashupatinath Temple and many others witnessed a total of 26,634 tourist arrivals in the month of May thus registering an increase of 6 per cent compared to the same month , last year.
