In order to minimize operational disruptions and inconveniences caused to passengers, kingfisher airlines has decided to close all the check-in counters for all domestic flights of Kingfisher Airlines departing from Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai 40 minutes before departure. Besides, the boarding gates for domestic flights departing from the 6 airports will also close 15 minutes before the time of departure. Earlier check-in counters used to close 30 minutes before the departure.
"It's therefore imperative that all guests arrive at the airport well in advance to check-in, proceed for security checks and arrive at their boarding gate in time. All our guests are being notified immediately of this change via SMS messages and e-mails by our call centres and our travel trade partners," said a Kingfisher Airlines statement.
In October last year, the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) had issued an Air Transport Circular 10 of 2009, which had drawn up measures to ease congestion of flights at Indian airports, in particular Mumbai and Delhi. However, the notification is not being adhered to till date. Kingfisher Airlines is the only airline to have announced a revised check-in time for passengers.
