The registration of Amaranth Yatra that began from June 5th witnessed over 1 lakh pilgrims registering for pilgrimage to 3,888 metre high Amarnath cave shrine of Lord Shiva in South Kashmir till now.
Officials of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, nodal agency for registration of pilgrims across India informed that while 54,000 pilgrims have registered through various Jammu and Kashmir Bank registration counters, over 47,000 have registered through the online mode. Till now, 53,000 pilgrims have registered for their yatra on Pahalgam-Amarnath route and about 48,000 have registered for Baltal-Amarnath route.
The Amaranth Yatra organized by the J&K government during the month of shravan (July and August) is one of the holiest pilgrimage for Hindus.
