Chandipur
is one of the known tourist spots in Orissa. It is a sea resort on the
eastern coast of India. It is famous for its beaches which are probably
the shallowest beaches in the country. It might sound amusing but you
can actually bike deep into the sea for approximately a mile. This is
the unique feature of the beach. Beside, the tides come to the shore
only four times day, that too at fixed intervals. The beach due to its
unique attribute supports huge bio diversity. Horse shoe crab is found
on the beach towards Mirzapur. There is also a flourishing fishing
market and community nearby, at the confluence of the river
Budhabalanga.
As a result, you can enjoy the fresh sea food, which is a specialty.
One of the popular tourist attractions nearby is the 18th century
kshirochora-gopinath temple. It is also an important site with regard to
the space program of India. It is a launch station on the east coast of
the country. In contrast to Sriharikota, no satellite launch takes place
here. Chandipur is the rocket launching station in the Balasore
district. It is just located on the Bay of Bengal at 21°18' N and
86°36' E. Indian army's Interim Test Range is located here.
Owing to this fact many tests for various missiles such as Agni,
Prithvi, Trishul have been conducted here.
