In a bid to promote ecotourism activities in Tamil Nadu, the state government has launched an ecotourism Policy on June 7th. The Policy officially released by M K Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu, provides strategic direction to engage local communities, tourists, forest officials, government and other stakeholders in ecotourism practices resulting in conservation of natural resources.
The state government besides identifying the lesser-known areas having ecotourism potential will also create awareness on conservation techniques among tourists and local communities. The Policy note also mentions that the state government will establish hotels in potential eco tourism spots, outside the protected areas.
