The Indian Ministry of Tourism (MoT) recently conducted the survey of Kaziranga National Park, Assam from May 24-28 followed by Kanha and Bandhavgarh National Parks in Madhya Pradesh in the first week of June. The survey of remaining wildlife sanctuaries identified by MoT, like Madhumalai, Ranthambore and Pench will be taken up in due course.
The initiative has been taken up to assess the impact of tourism, especially hotels and resorts working in and around wildlife sanctuaries, on the environment and eco-system of the area. The exercise is being conducted as part of MoT’s plans to formulate a comprehensive guideline for Responsible Tourism in the ecologically fragile tourism destinations of India.
