Sri Lanka's famous resort ‘KumbukRiver Eco Extraordinaire‘has done it again. This time it has received yet another World Travel Awards nomination, in the category of World's Best Eco-Lodge. This is the 4th consecutive nomination for KumbukRiver at the Travel Oscars. It had previously won the World's Best Eco-Lodge award in 2008.
KumbukRiver which is located in Okkampitiya, Buttala, on the banks of Kumbukkan Oya, is spread over 16 acres of lush greenery. The Eco resort has retained its rural charm and its major attraction is the world-famous Elephant Villa, a 40ft high, 2-story villa in the shape of an elephant which adds a sophisticated touch. It has managed to use only environmentally sustainable materials for its construction and uses no electricity at present. It offers rates as low as Rs.3500 per person and encourages group bookings of five people and over.

KumbukRiver has put Srilankan tourism on world map of and it has brought about an immense change to the village and district.
