The proposal sent by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Corporation (UTDB) to the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) , India for development of tourism destinations in the state has been finally approved. The tourism ministry has sanctioned Rs 50 crore for Nirmal-Gangotri Circuit (a mega circuit), Rs 8 crore for 2 circuits in Gadwal and Kumaun and Rs 5 crore for 2 destinations in Gadwal and Kumaun region.
Uttarkhand, situated in the northern part of India is an abode to many tourist places like Badrinath, Kausani, Kumaon, Auli, Rishikesh, Kedarnath, Pantnagar and Chamba. The state has been receiving thrice the number of pilgrims for Char Dham Yatra which started on May 16, 2010, compared to last year.
