Ras Resorts, the only four star hotel approved by government in Silvassa in union territory of Dadra and Nagar haveli, is going to add 60 rooms in its existing property by the end of December 2010. This addition will take the number of rooms to 160 as the current property has 100 rooms. The property is situated on the bank of river Daman Ganga and is spread over an area of 8.5 acres. The resort has acquired an additional area of 5 acres to add these 60 rooms.
George P John, General Manager, Ras Resorts, Silvassa said that they catered to the corporate, wedding, leisure and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) segments and because of the large demand for weddings in the resort they decided the addition of 60 rooms to cater theme weddings in resort. He informed that an open lawn for wedding function would have the capacity to accommodate 500 sitting crowd or around 800 floating crowd and separate entrances would be created for upcoming rooms for the convenience of guests.
Mr. John further added that they would have a separate kitchen in new wing to prepare vegetarian food as around 60 % of guests who visit the resort were vegetarian. Ras Resorts, Silvassa, currently has rooms in three categories- deluxe, executive and suites. A coffee shop ‘Bistro’ and lounge bar ‘Banyan Tree' is there at resort for the enjoyment of guests. Apart from existing coffee shop planning has been done to open a new coffee shop which will become operational by December 09.
