Premier Inn has taken a step in the mid-market hospitality segment of India, with the opening of its first hotel in Bangalore. The introductory price for a room in Premium Inn Bangalore has been defined as Rs 2600 plus taxes. The hotel houses 105 rooms, with facilities like gyms, multi-cuisine restaurant, conference halls and bar.
At the launch of hotel, Aly Shariff, MD - Premier Inn India, said that both the corporate and the individual travelers demand cost effective and quality rooms. The target guests of the new hotel are primarily the corporates from IT industry. He further added that the hospitality chain is looking at other metros and tier-2 cities in the country as well and would be investing around Rs 400 crore to develop these properties in the next 3-5 years. The investment would be sourced from equity markets as well as through debts.
Premier Inn is a part of UK’s leading hospitality company Whitbread Plc. At present, it operates 590 hotels in Britain and Dubai, with a total of 40,000 rooms. The future plans of Whitbread Plc. comprises of launching properties in New Delhi by late 2010 (142 rooms) and in Pune by early 2011 (125 rooms), along with two other properties. Together, these five hotels will offer around 750 rooms in future. Whitbread already has its famous Costa coffee outlets in different parts of India.
