Tata Group’s Indian Hotel Company Limited (IHCL) has launched some add-on services for its ‘Ginger Hotels’ brand, to attract customers from all over the country. These services include 24 hour restaurants, package deals, free pick- up and drop services and select room services.
Prabhat Pani, Chief Executive Officer at Root Corp. Ltd, which manages the Ginger brand, said that the three-star chain has claimed that the services have been included as per customer feedback and will not add up to the cost base. The step has been undertaken to position the hotels as per customer’s requirement. The hotel chain has also introduced discounts for early bookings, special packages for students and special incentive for 2- 3 days stay.
The changes have been made in line with the airline industry, as 40% customers are repeat customers. ‘Ginger’ operates 20 hotels across India and has plans to have 10 more by the end of 2010. Prabhat Pani listed further plans to cut down on real estate costs, by opting for management contracts. Opening of hotels in malls is a part of the same cost-cutting measure. Ludhiana already houses a Ginger hotel in a mall.
