Pilgrimage to Vaishnodevi and Amarnath shrines in J&K will be costlier from July. Rs 2,000 would be charged as entry fee per vehicle carrying pilgrims to the cave shrines of Mata Vaishnodevi and Amarnath for a period of 3 days. Similarly, vehicles carrying passengers for Mata Vaishnodevi Yatra and Amarnath Yatra will be charged Rs 2,000 at the entry point for a period of seven days and after the seventh day Rs 2,000 will be charged per day. The forthcoming annual Amarnath Yatra will kick-start from July 1, this year.
While Shri Maa Vaishno Devi Shrine is one of the oldest shrines of India, the Amarnath Shrine, another famous shrine is considered to be the most holy place by Hindus.
