To attract more number of visitors and encourage tourism, the Malaysian government is set to introduce measures that will make it easier for Indian visitors to obtain visas.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said that the Immigration Department would set up more offices in India where potential tourists could obtain visas easily. Malaysia whose third most profitable source of income from foreign exchange is tourism segment has innumerable famous attractions like Petronas Twin Towers, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, Penang Hill, Balik Pulao Town, Khoo Kongsi among others.
Indian tourism was among the country’s top 10 tourist sources in 2009. A total of 590,000 Indian tourists visited Malaysia last year, and with over 100 flights running between India and Malaysia each week, the Malaysian Prime Minister is confident of the potential for improvement.
While Malaysia Airlines, the country's national carrier, operates 30 weekly flights between 2 countries, Malaysia's budget airlines, Air Asia have 63 weekly flights between Malaysia and India. Another 21 weekly flights are operated by 3 Indian airlines.
