Eravikulam Wildlife
Sanctuary
Spread over an area of 97 square kilometers, the Eravikulam Wildlife
Sanctuary is a vast expanse of lush green forests and rolling
grasslands. This sanctuary was set up to protect the endangered Nilgiri
Tahr. This sanctuary is an ideal place to visit as excursions from
Idukki.
Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary
This bird sanctuary was set up due to the efforts of renowned
ornithologist, Dr. Salim Ali. The Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary is home to
almost 500 species of rare birds and is a safe haven for all kinds of
birds, animals and plants. In fact, the number of birds over here is so
vast that it is almost like a miniature world of birds in this
sanctuary.
Moolamatton
Moolamatton is well known for the fact that the Idukki Hydroelectric
