The weather in Shimoga District is typical of
southern Karnataka regions.
Summer
During summers, the hot, seasonally dry tropical weather of Shimoga
takes a toll on the people. The summer months of April and May are hot
and the onset of monsoon in June results in a slight drop in
temperatures. The monsoon season from June to September results in heavy
downpours.
Winter
Winter months usher in a bracing climate with temperatures taking a
nosedive. During October to December the north-east monsoon brings in
intermittent spells of rain.
Clothes to Wear in Shimoga
If a summer trip to Shimoga is on the cards, ransack the wardrobe until
you get your hands on some trendy cotton apparels. For a winter trip,
light woolens like pullovers and cardigans would suffice.
