STD (Subscriber Trunk Dialing) codes are affixed before a landline number, if you are calling from some other city.
In case you are calling a number from abroad, you will need to affix the (International Subscriber Dialing) ISD Code for that city. Both these codes are applicable in case of landline numbers only. In case you are calling the mobile number of a person from a city other than the one he resides in, you need to affix ‘0’. For those calling a mobile number from abroad, affixing of ‘091’ is required. In case of mobiles, the same code is applicable throughout India.
