The
currency of India is known as Rupee and it is widely accepted in
Gujarat. A rupee is equal to 100 paise. The currency is available in
both notes as well as coins. The notes are available in the
denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000. It is difficult to
find one and two rupee notes in the market. Apart from this, the coins
are available in the denominations of 1, 2 and 5. It is better if you
use notes for big transactions and keep the change for giving tips,
local transport fare and other small expenses. Besides liquid cash, you
can also use other mediums for meeting your expenses like credit cards,
traveler cheques etc.
Though these mediums are convenient, they have their own limitations.
They can be used at big places only, while for traveling to small
places, cash should be carried. For the convenience of the tourists,
there are a number of options available for money exchange. There are
numerous banks and other organizations which provide currency exchange
facilities. These money exchangers are found in all the major towns and
cities. The banks and other currency exchangers of Gujarat, providing
the same facility are listed below.
