Jawaharlal
Nehru Stadium of Delhi is situated near C.G.O. Complex in the Lodhi Road
area. Built by the Government of India in the year 1982, it has been
serving as an all-purpose sports ground. Apart from the sports events
like football (soccer) matches, etc, the Delhi Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
also hosts entertainment events. A number of concerts by the famous
musicians, singers and other performers have been held here in the past. The seating capacity of the stadium allows for 75,000 seats for football games, approximately 100,000 for other athletic events and nearly 130,000 for concerts. The Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium of New Delhi also serves as venue for the headquarter offices of the Indian Olympic Committee. Infact, the ninth India Asian Games were hosted by India at this stadium only. One of the recent feats of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is that it will be hosting the forthcoming 2010 Commonwealth Games in India
