Ghanerao
Royal Castle of Rajasthan is situated in the Ghanerao region, near
Kumbhalgarh. Gopal Das Rathore got the castle built in the year 1606.
Ghanerao Castle consists of a number of graceful sandstone havelis and
marble bastions. Numerous Rajput miniature paintings adorn the walls of
this magnificent castle built in typical Rajput architectural style.
Beautifully carved lattice friezes and chandeliered rooms are the other
impressive features of this castle. Cannon balls strikes have marked
some of the boundary walls of the Ghanerao Royal Castle. There are also
the splendid cenotaphs of the former rulers and warriors near the
castle.
Thakur Sajjan Singh, along with his son, Kr. Himmat Singh turned the
castle into a heritage hotel. Each of the room of the Ghanerao Royal
Castle Hotel of Rajasthan is different from the other with balconies,
verandahs and terraces. The restaurants in the hotel are conventionally
decorated and serve a wide range of cuisines including traditional
Rajasthani dishes. Ghanerao Royal Castle Heritage Hotel, near
Kumbhalgarh, also provides facilities like Jeep safaris and sightseeing
tours to nearby places including Kumbalgarh Fort, Wildlife Sanctuary,
ancient Jain Temples, etc.
