Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) will soon launch package tours from October covering destinations of Coastal Karnataka through Silver Chariots, the luxury Volvo buses on the lines of the Golden Chariot.
The KSTDC that currently owns and manages 16 hotels across different tourist destinations in the state is all geared up to upgrade its existing properties. The corporation is also planning to add 50 more rooms to the existing hotels instead of opening new hotels.
KSTDC formed by the government of Karnataka besides promoting the lesser known tourism destinations of the state also envisages providing infrastructure, conveyance and other facilities to benefit tourists visiting Karnataka. The corporation that currently runs conducted tours besides operating hotels also manages guest houses.
The Golden Chariot, a luxurious tourist train run by KSTDC takes travellers to some of the South India’s greatest tourism destinations. Currently, the train has chartered out 2 routes namely ‘Pride of the South ‘(8 days/7 nights) and ‘Southern Splendor’ (7 nights/8 days). Golden Chariot which is a major hit both among the domestic and international visitors has been rated by Vanity Fair, UK as one of the top 7 train journeys in the world.
