The Karnataka tourism department is taking all steps to promote its state in a huge way. The DoT (Department of Tourism), Government of Karnataka has identified 5 new source markets namely Japan, Scandinavia, China, Spain and South America to create awareness about the destinations and attract key suppliers from these markets.
The state tourism department that has set aside an annual marketing budget of Rs 30 crore for this year’s promotional campaign is also getting geared up to conduct road shows in Frankfurt, London, Paris and Latin America in September.
K Vishwanatha Reddy, Director-Tourism, Government of Karnataka said, “We aim to tap the new international markets which other states in India haven’t explored as yet. We have participated in travel marts where besides Ministry of Tourism no other states have participated independently. These include travel fairs organized by Japan Association of Travel Agents, International Luxury Travel Market conducted at Cannes, France and Asia Luxury Travel Market organized at Shanghai.”
In order to tap the domestic sector and woo visitors, the state tourism board will also organize road shows in Chennai and Kochi in early September similar to the road shows recently concluded in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Surat and Mumbai
