The Karnataka tourism department is all geared up to open a Film and Media City at Bidadi near Bangalore and a Wellness City at Kabini near Mysore. The department has identified 400 acres land near Bidadi for the proposed film and media city and 200 acres land at Kabini near Mysore for Wellness City.
G.Janardhan Reddy, Minister for infrastructure and tourism said that the department will call for expression of interest from the private sector for the both the projects in the next two weeks.
The state government is also keen to develop helipads and airports in about 40 key tourist spots across the state. Each helipad will be built at a whooping cost of Rs. 40 lakh and the state is hoping to have at least 10-12 helipads by next one year. The department has decided to build an international convention centre near the Bangalore airport at Devanahalli at a cost of Rs.1, 100 crore under PPP (public private partnership) model with Soma Construction firm.
