Indian Railways (IR) is all set to promote rail packages off-line through tourism facilitation centres which are sold online through railtourismindia.com. The new move which will enable travellers to book packages through the facilitation centres will be made available in 2 key cities - Chennai and Bangalore, initially and later be extended to Hampi and Mysore as well.
Puneet Saxena , zonal tourism office , IRCTC Bengaluru informed that the plan is on track and this will be taken further in a constructive manner to enable revenue earning for IRCTC.
“We are trying to strategize with the state tourism boards through tie-ups in the interest of the customers, Bringing the tour packages off-line will ensure greater reach and more people who are not using the internet to access these benefits”, added Saxena.
The tourism facilitation centres frequently visited by travellers to get information on travel and other related details are usually located at the railway stations, while rest are at tourism offices or commercial districts of the cities. Meanwhile, IRCTC that is busy undertaking educational trips for schools taking into consideration safety, comfort and hygiene issues is trying hard to change the perspective of rail travel in every possible way.
