Nicco Park is one of the biggest amusement parks in Kolkata as well as the whole of West Bengal. Set up in an area of about 40 acres, this is a place where people of all age groups come together and enjoy. It is a wonderful picnic spot, perfect for a family outing. It is even wonderful for sight seeing and simply lazing around. It is located in the Salt Lake fringe of the city. Set up in 1991, this place is also popularly referred as Jheel Meel and the Disneyland of Kolkata. This place is simply jam-packed on weekends.
Other than several wonderful rides, like Cave ride, Toy Train, Cable Car, Tilt-a-Whirl, Water Chute, Water Coaster, Flying Saucer, Pirate Ship and Moonraker, Nicco Park also offers beautiful rose garden and a large food park to the visitors. The food park at the Nicco Park offers varied delicious cuisines, right from North Indian and Bengali to Northeastern, Chinese as well as South Indian. There also several small food outlets in the park as well, run by the reputed restaurants of Kolkata. The park is open 11.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. in summers and 11.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. in winter.
Nicco Park has the proud distinction of obtaining ISO 9002 certification from a well-known European Certifying Authority. It was the first amusement parks of its kind in the world to get this prestigious certificate. The park is open to all, with a nominal charge of Rs. 50, which includes 8 free rides. However, if you want to enjoy all the rides, a composite fee of Rs. 150 will be charged. There are several places near Nicco Park, which provide you an opportunity of sheer fun expeditions. Nalban Lake, along with its boating complex and lush greenery, is a must-see. Subhash Sarovar is another place where you can have a lazy walk.
