The US-based leading hospitality chain, Hilton International Company is keen to establish some of its global brands, including luxury chains Waldorf Astoria and Conrad, in India. The company which is keen to expand its presence in India has sought permission from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) in order to either invest or acquire stake in other Indian hospitality firms.
"Hilton has sought an approval to operate in India across all its brands. It will look at different prospective partners for bringing its different brands into the country," a company source said. The brands include the service segment Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn and serviced apartments under the Hilton Residences and Homewood Suites.
Currently, Hilton Company owns a dozen brands with over 3,200 properties around 80 countries. In India, Hilton operates 2 hotels in Delhi, of which one is under the JV (Joint venture) and the other opened under a franchise agreement with a local partner.
