India’s premium hotel chain, Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, is all set to open its first UAE hotel in 2011. The hotel located at Business Bay, will have 220 rooms and will mainly target business travellers. The company is also planning to open another 2 hotels in Abu Dhabi which would be operational by 2013. The group, which already boasts of a luxury property in Saudi Arabia, is looking forward to further expand in the region, with hotels planned for Oman and Morocco.
Liam Lambert, Oberoi Hotels and Resorts President, said: "Our first hotel in the UAE will be a business hotel in Dubai, which should open in one-and-a-half years.The hotel chain currently has 1,300 rooms in India and 900 overseas currently, and is looking to add 700 rooms by 2013. Lambert also added that the group is looking forward for further expansion in the UAE and would probably open 2- 3 properties within a few years.
