The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) which regulates the Indian travel industry has announced the winners of the second edition of TAAI Travel Awards held at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The chief guest for the awards was Chhagan Bhujbal, Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Maharashtra.
While the domestic low cost service airline of the year went to Indigo Airlines, the budget hotel chain of the year was clinched by Ginger Hotels. The winners of the awards were chosen by TAAI members this year. The travel agents who received and formulated opinions on the winners of these awards, helped to reflect customer opinions. A total of 300 TAAI affiliated travel agents participated in the voting process.
Also, the main highlight of this year’s TAAI awards was the 2 special awards given to 2 distinct people. First was the TAAI President’s Award of the Year which was given to Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive and Managing Director of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Corporation. The second special award, the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Naresh Goyal, Chairman, Jet Airways.
“I have been associated with TAAI for a long time as I first attended a TAAI Convention in 1975 at Kolkata. I strongly believe that customers today cannot do without travel agents, who are now partners. This partnership covers all segments of the service industry,” said Goyal.
