The total approximate earnings of Indian railways during April 1- May 31 were Rs 14714.04 crore compared to Rs 13710.66 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 7.32 %. Similarly, the total goods earnings have gone up from Rs 9333.48 crore during April 1- May 31, 2009 to Rs 10004.02 crore during April 1- May 31, 2010. Approximately a total number of 1273.93 million passengers booked the railways compared to 1203.51 million during the same period last year, thus clearly indicating an increase of 5.85 per cent.
