Damascus, the capital of Syria and a home to many historical sites has now got 11 brand new heritage hotels. The ancient-fashion Damascene houses have been converted into heritage hotels and restaurants to enable tourists to get acquainted with Damascus cultural heritage.
The process is a part of this project which intends to maintain the tourist attraction of Damascus as one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited city. According to Aadallah Agha al-Qalaa, the Syrian tourism minister, the country occupies the third position in the world tourism and the visitor arrivals has increased 71 percent in comparison with the year 2009, pointing out that Syria will witness important tourist investment project in the year.
