Singapore’s low-cost airline ‘Tiger Airways’ is going to launch flights between Singapore and Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu and will be effective from November 1, 2010. The new flight service will consist of four weekly flights on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Trichy will be Tiger Airways’ 34th destination in Asia Pacific and the airline currently offers services to Bangalore and Chennai.
Rosalynn Tay, Managing Director, Tiger Airways Singapore said, “Tiruchirappalli, or Trichy, is not only a destination in its own right. It also serves the vast hinterland of South India, being centrally located in Tamil Nadu. As the only airline to fly direct from there to Singapore, we offer travellers much greater convenience and valuable time savings, in addition to our low fares.”The tickets are now on sale, with fares (one way) from SGD 70 + SGD 100 taxes (approximately Rs 2,100 + Rs 2, 900 taxes) for travel between November 1, 2010 and March 26, 2011.
