Nagaland boasts of renowned tourism spots like Japfu Peak , Shangnyu Village, Dzukou Valley and Dimapur, among others has received the award of India’s Most Picturesque Destination of the year 2008 held at Hotel Crown Plaza, New Delhi, on August 25th .
According to the official bulletin, the award was received by Nagaland Tourism Minister KK Sema. The ceremony was graced by Union minister for Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni and renowned film producer and director Yash Chopra as chief guest and guest of honour.
Nagaland government that has been actively organizing road shows cum festivals to showcase the state’s tourism potential and rich heritage has now adopted a new tourism slogan, ‘Nagaland-the land of festivals’ to attract more number of domestic and foreign tourists. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio informed that the government has decided to continue with the Road Shows during 2010-2011 in viewing of the positive impacts.
Meanwhile, Nagaland tourism department that actively promotes its state offers various tourism packages to tourists at reasonable prices. The tour packages that includes visit to interesting spots like Pulie Badze, Khonoma Village, Tuophema Village, Cathedral, war Cemetery, Gurtel Emporium among others provides facilties like transportation, sightseeing, lunch and guide fee to guests.
