Marriott International, a leading hospitality company that has more than 3,200 lodging properties worldwide is currently looking forward to open properties in Bahrain, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and other parts of Africa by 2016, for a total of 40 new hotels.
The US-based hotel major has about 8-9 brands represented in the Middle East market. These include the JW Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, Marriott Renaissance, The Courtyard, Marriott Executive Apartments, to name a few.
"We are looking at opportunities for the 'Edition' and the 'Autograph' brands for this market. Those two will come to this market earlier than any other brand," Ed Fuller, President and Managing Director, Marriott Lodging International, told Emirates Business.
The Marriott is also looking right now to take its "Fairfield" hotel brand - the three-star moderate-tier brand to India. Furthermore, Marriott expects to bring to the Middle East and Northern African market 1,600 rooms with six hotel openings over the next 12 months, Fuller said. The Middle East market will see 40 more hotels coming up in the next 3 years.
